Dr. Basuraj Bhowmik is going to organise a special session in the 14th International Conference on Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructures (SHMII-14) titled "SS41 - Decision Policies for Structural Health Monitoring and the Role of Trustworthy Agentic AI" with Alessio De Corso and Dr. Carlo Rainieri (Construction Technologies Institute, National Research Council of Italy), which will be held in the city of Naples (Italy) between June 29th and July 2nd 2027.
Dr. Bhowmik was invited as an expert speaker at the Academic Symposium on Structural Reliability and Uncertainty between the University of Strathclyde, UK, and Lanzhou University of Technology (LUT), China, on June 22-27, 2026. He presented his ideas on Physics-Grounded Agentic AI for Structural Health Monitoring: Perception, Cognition, Action, Reflection as part of the ongoing research in agentic AI for SHM at the OSCAR Lab.

The OSCAR Lab proudly announces its recent acceptance of a paper titled "STRiDe - a Self-Tuning Reduced Intelligent Digital environment", at the 12th European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (EWSHM 2026), to be held from July 7 to 10, 2026, in Toulouse, France.
Dr. Basuraj Bhowmik is going to organise a special session in EWSHM 2026 titled "SS18: Digital Twins for Structural Health Monitoring of Complex Mechanical Systems" with Dr. Adrien Melot (Inria, France), Dr. Susmita Naskar (University of Southampton, United Kingdom), Dr. Olivier Bareille (INSA Rouen, France), and Dr. Christophe Droz (Inria, France).
Dr. Bhowmik and Prof. Patelli visited Helmut Schmidt University on May 5 to 7, 2026, as part of their RIS-funded project to deliver invited talks at the workshop titled "Recent approaches to infrastructure management".
Dr. Bhowmik hosted the experts from Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, Germany and Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany, at the University of Strathclyde as part of an RIS-funded project. On March 11 to 13, 2026, he organised a workshop titled "Monitoring, Modelling, and Managing Tomorrow’s Infrastructure", where experts from both universities delivered their thoughts on the increasingly important topic of structural monitoring and maintenance.
Yet another paper from the Oscar Lab, titled "Autonomous agentic AI with policy adaptation for physics-informed spectral learning in Structural Health Monitoring", got published in the Advanced Engineering Informatics by Elsevier on March 1, 2026.
Mr. Mehulkumar and Ms. Anshu Sharma published their first journal article alongside Dr Bhowmik, titled "FAME–SSA: A Fast Adaptive Multivariate Decomposition Method for unsupervised damage detection in built infrastructures" on Feb 5, 2026, in the prestigious Journal of Sound and Vibration by Elsevier.
Dr. Bhowmik is taking over as the Discipline theme lead for structural engineering at Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Strathclyde.
The Oscar team participated in the Road Expo Scotland & Bridges Scotland 2025, held at the SEC Glasgow on 26–27 November 2025. The event provided an excellent platform to engage with industry leaders, showcase our expertise, and discuss the latest innovations and challenges in road infrastructure, bridge engineering, and sustainable transportation.
Dr. Bhowmik was awarded the Research Innovation Scotland International Collaboration Funding (RIS) on October 31, 2025. The project will run till July 15, 2026.
Ms. Anshu Sharma joined the OSCAR Lab as a Diamond Jubilee Doctoral Scholar on October 01, 2025. Her work will mostly focus on real-time structural health monitoring of built infrastructures.
